Ausserdem hoffe ich, dass ich trotz der intensiven Arbeit an Bord auch ab und zu die Zeit finde um ein paar kleine Aufsätze über die ozeanographischen und biologischen Hintergründe meiner Forschung zu schreiben.Den Untertitel habe ich bei John Steinbeck und Ed Ricketts geborgt, weil ich hoffe, dass hier bis Ende Dezember eine lesenswerte Mischung aus Reise- und Forschungsbericht entsteht. Ob ich dabei das literarische Niveau der beiden erreiche sei dahingestellt.
Neben diesem Blog wird es auch einen offiziellen (englischen) Expeditionsblog geben, er ist unter http://seamounts2009.blogspot.com zu finden.
This blog is about my research cruise to the Southwest Indian Ocean Ridge and - given that I can find a little time between my watches - about the oceanographical and biological background of my research.
The subtitle is borrowed from John Steinbeck and Ed Ricketts' account from the Sea of Cortez - not because I am striving to write on the same literary level, but because this hopefully is a good description of the mixture of entries that shall accumulate here in the weeks to come.
